Y STANDS FOR PRODUCTION
We are a production company, as from our name you can deduce. Our staff share
different backgrounds and skills, the is not caused because we are especially
interested in diversity, rather its based on a strategy to diversify our services.
If you go into our site you can roughly understand our company.
In a time in which the world is increasingly full of creative people, with
different ideas, illusions and limitations, YP offers its services trying
to make these ideas, in some rare cases, possible. We are usually truly interested,
we agree and we try to engage with all the projects we develop, always trying
to expand its contents.
Under the idea of production we understand the need to design, run, coordinate,
execute, publicize, distribute and all those side activities that are usually
excluded from the final product. The need to become an organism which enjoys
full productive autonomy has helped us to include all of these aspects into
the production process. In that sense we are not a production company which
organizes events or curates exhibitions, we are not just an entity which writes
articles, we believe that all of these activities are part of one important
need: the production of a context. So we are not just a bunch of artists playing
to be enterprises.
As we are consumers who also produce things, we have always been as interested
in the final product as in the whole of previous mechanisms that make it happen.
Why control a final product if it’s meaning comes conformed by the invisible
process, which has made it and the context where it will be consumed? This
does not benefit consumers who can be potential producers, but benefits all
of those interested in creating hierarchies and stratified roles: the one
who pays, she who creates, I explain it, he is who will consume it, she is
selling it, etc…In our projects, one of our main aims is to control,
analyze and show all the process behind the product.
Some of our projects have been developed after our own ideas, others come
from proposals which we think suit us, tell us about your ideas and we will
see want we can do about them.
-And aren’t you tired of being producing things all day long? Obviously,
but we do it so well that we better carry on doing it, if you still don’t
receive info about our projects, events that we are currently producing send
us an email and we will include you in our mailing list (our work volume and
our energies are limited, so we promise not to fill your account with spam).
-And do you do any kind of jobs? Our first projects have been related to the
artistic and cultural world, using their formats and lexicon. This is mainly
due to the fact that the art world is quite close to our previous work fields,
we also knew it would easier for us to succeed in developing our image and
intentions in such a sphere. This does not mean we cannot start doing things
that don’t need to be related to this kind of spaces. Cultural industries
go further away than its institutions, private and public centres and it encompasses
a whole series of interests, we like this fact, to remain vigilant of these
movements and in some cases, catalysers of this cultural movement.
As you can notice we try to open the idea of production completely, to normatize
it or to define it beforehand would just close possibilities and interest.
There are corners and gaps (those between economy and city development, art
and politics, physics and architecture and many fascinating others) in which
cultural production still has to take place, so after letting us be seen in
openings among drinks and the food, we try to be aware of all these kinds
of events.
